because the snow would settle on the branches and they would break due to weight of the snow .so sloping branches would help the snow to fall dawn

Trees on hills have sloping branches. The climate on hills is cold in general. This results in snowfall. If the branches are not sloping, then the ice would get accumulated on the branches which would lead to rotting. Such branches don't let water and snow to get stored on branches. This is why hills have sloping branches.
