The private keeping of any imported wildlife other than some caged bird species is not permitted in Tasmania. Only holders of a wildlife exhibition licence or a suitable scientific research facility are eligible to apply to import wildlife other than some caged bird species into Tasmania.

For purely selfish reasons.
Human survival on the planet is closely linked to wildlife conservation.
By conserving the wild ecosystems like rainforests, coral reefs, grasslands, we are ensuring that our sources of food, water, timber, fish etc are conserved. More importantly, these ecosystems are needed for the health of the planet, ie, to prevent landslides, floods, drought, desertification, air pollution and global warming.
