why do use paraffin solution in the experiment to prove anaerobic

The paraffin acts as barrier between oxygen and the glucose solution with yeast so that there no aerobic respiration could occur.... It definitely gives the desired result to prove that anaerobic respiration occur in yeast in absence of oxygen and Carbon dioxide is released...
