why do veins have valves but not arteries ?​

The main function of valve is to prevent backflow of blood.

The blood flows at a very high velocity( high pressure) in the arteries compared to veins( low pressure)

So backflow cannot happen since the heart pumps the blood forcefully into the arteries.

But when the blood comes to the veins from the arteries then the capillaries the velocity is less and may backflow or become stagnant.

But this is prevented by the valves
