Stomata remain open during daytime for gaseous exchanges for photosynthesis and respiration. So transpiration rate is higher. Transpiration creates water pressure in xylem( water conducting tissue) . This transpiration pressure pulls water column from roots through stem to leaves. The entire xylem in plants from root to leaves forms a continuous channel. So higher the rate of transpiration from leaves more the water will be transported from roots through stem to stomata of leaves.
