moment of force =magnitude of force*perpendicular distance.So longer wrench increases force and produce more turning effect

As one knows
TORQUE = R cross F
=> F = torque/R
As torque required to open a nut is constant. So F is inversely proportional to R.
Hence if load arm is long we require less force to open.
