Acid is always added to water and not water to the acid .
- Because if we will add water in acid then there exothermic reaction will take place and also there will be chance of explosion .
- So it is safe ,to add small amount of acid to water the heat evolved is easily absorbed by the water .

Add more acid releases more heat so much heat is released that sol may boil very violently splashing conc acid out of the cantainer .If you add acid to water the sol that forms is very dil and the small amount of heat released is not enough to vaporize it
