why do we apply oil on iron tools kept in storage?

to prevent them from coming in contact of oxygen .this is done to protect them from rusting

because iron being reactive in nature can react with moisture and oxygen present in the atmosphere to form oxide or undergo corrosion which is called rusting in case of iron so to prevent rusting of iron tools we apply oil as oil prevents reaction of iron with atmosphere and hence iron tools are safe
