Iron articles are painted to prevent them from rusting. After painting iron surface does not come in contact with moisture and air which cause rusting.

paint prevents rusting of iron.

generally paint does not act as an anti oxidant , it just acts as a barrier b/w iron & air/ moisture.

but in market you can find paints that are manufactured specially as an anti oxidant .
