Why do we apply paint on iron articles?

paint on iron articles is applies to prevent rusting of them . as paint prevents iron from coming in contact with moisture and oxygen.

Paint forms a protective coating on the surface of iron. Both oxygen and mositure (present in air), cannot have a direct contact with the surface of the iron metal. Therefore, the surface gets protected against rusting.
