Why do we apply smaller force to a heavy box that is at rest to maintain it motion

if it is at rest and we want to maintain its motion then it means it should remain at rest so it is required that u apply a very small force or no force

Heavy box which is at rest posses Static friction. And sliding box posses sliding friction. We know that Static friction is always more than the sliding friction. ... Therefore in order to move a bo at rest we have to overcome static friction and we have ro apply more force.
