We breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon di oxide because the blood rich in carbon di oxide is toxic to human body. It causes damage to all of the cells in the body resulting in the death of the person.

☆ We breath because our body requires oxygen. The oxygen is required to purify blood. The blood carries oxygen to various parts of the body. The organs receive oxygen through blood and other body fluids. The organs need oxygen to carry out their functions. For example, the tissues need oxygen to function and they, in turn, give out carbon dioxide back into the lungs through blood ( called deoxygenated blood) which is breathed out as it is harmful for the body.
