Answer:

I would argue we should be chasing impossible dreams. The question could mean either dreams that people tell us are impossible but we can achieve, or dreams which truly are impossible.

When trying to do something new or different to the norm there will always be people who tell us it is impossible. Sometimes it can feel like you are the only person who thinks the dream is possible. In this case I think it is very easy to rationalize chasing these dreams. Why should other people telling it is too difficult stop us from trying? If you believe you can do it despite the doubters then you can do it. This reminds me of a quote from George Bernard Shaw:

"People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it."

In terms of chasing literally impossible dreams then I think there is still a chasing for doing it. A dream is usually about the end result instead of the process of getting there. Just because the end result is impossible does not mean nothing can be learned from the process. If you take the first steps of the process then maybe the impossible dream will become possible. Alternatively a new more achievable dream may appear. Even if the dream turns out to be impossible you can learn enough from the process that it does not matter if you achieve the end result. This could mean acquiring knowledge you could not have learnt otherwise or meeting people you could not have met without trying to do the impossible.

These are the reasons why I think more people should chase their seemingly impossible dreams. Even if they do not make it to their dream they can have a lot of fun going through the process.
