why do we cover large ice cubes with gunny bags and saw dust?

gunny bags and saw dust are bad conductor of heat
therefore to prevent ice from melting we use gunny bags and saw dust to cover large ice cubes

Because the air present in the pores diet nit allow the
external heat to go in and melt the ice, since air is a bad
conductor of heat.
