We divide history into different Because there's is so much of it.
It would not be possible for one person to become an expert in “history” so people break it into smaller chunks to get a deeper knowledge of particular parts.
As a random example, take the Mongols. Their peak covered a few centuries and affected 20 countries. It would take you years to trace all the cultural artifacts of that period - language, tools and weapons, government structures, legal systems, the relationship with Islam. That is a tiny list of aspects of that period worth studying.
