evaporation takes energy. It gets this energy from the surface its evaporating from in the form of heat. The faster the evaporation, the greater the cooling effect.
This is why we sweat, it evaporates to cool us down. perfume is mainly alcohol. This evaporates quickly hence the effect you have noticed.
