Why do we get both fossils and fossil fuels primarily in the sedimentary rocks?
Answers
Hello friend
Here is your answer
Sedimentary rocks are formed by the accumulation of sediments. We found both fossil and fossil fuel in sedimentary rocks because they are not like igneous or metamorphic rocks they foem at temperature and pressure that does no destroy the fossil remains.

These are the rocks formed by the deposition of sediments, grains, or particles derived from igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks or other sediments. These sediments gets deposited in low-lying areas on the surface of the earth. While the rivers bring the sediments with them, they bring bones or dead remain of plants and animals. So, when they get accumulated in low-lying areas, with time, due to heat and pressure, these sediments become compact and hard to form sedimentary rocks. The sediments are deposited in layers, so they formed in layers after compact. Hence, they are called stratified rocks.
The carbonaceous rocks are formed by the decay and decomposition if plants. They are rich in carbon. Coal is the best example and has different stages of formation.
So, by this process we get both fossil, and fossil fuel from. sedimentary rocks.

The process of transformation of sediments into hard rocks is called lithification. It includes the cementation of the sediments due to their own weight. The layers of sedimentary rocks are separated by bedding planes. The most common examples are– Sandstone and chalk.
