why do we get hurt when we fall on the earth surface

Hey..

We often fall on the earth's surface and get hurt because it has very hard surface... Because it is made with cement.

When we fall on the earth surface due to earth' s gravity we get hurt because of hard surface but if we fall on sand we did not get hurt due to soft surface.It proves that our injury depend on the how the surface is.
