The best thing you can do is prepare well in advance. Usually your professor / teacher will give you a syllabus with all the chapters and things correlated to each lecture. Study that material before the lecture so when you're actually there in class most of the info will be review. Then you can ask the important questions on what you don't understand. After your lecture review the stuff that you had trouble with along with your notes!
You will employ many study techniques like repetition, primacy and recency effects, as well as learning in multiple environments.
At the end of the day, you need to be your own teacher. Find out what study techniques work best for you. I like to view a professor as a tutor to help me work through things I cannot figure out on my own.
Preparation builds confidence. Believing that you are ready for the exam is more than half the battle. Once you're prepared you should relax or do some light review the day of the exam. Cramming the same day is like doing a sprint circuit before you run a marathon. You'll tire out fast and miss important details.
Lastly, do not put so much pressure on yourself. You are much more than just a CGPA. Take nice deep breathes throughout the day and during the exam. Read each question all the way through before answering. You've prepared well for the exam and it will show. Focus on what you can do today to prepare you for success in the future.
