because it helps you in your further life if your shifting abroad for hiher stuides etc. a 3rd language is not compulsory in some schools but wheras some are important

we have 3rd language because to understand something that the person want to say

sarwang: false.because having at least basic knowledge of any language other than English and hindi helps and having literal knowledge shows the level of literacy of the person
