Why do we have a system where the representatives are appointed for a fixed time and not for the life time?

This is because:
1. If they are appointed for lifetime, they will think that the power is ours forever, and nobody can do anything to us so we can exploit them.
2. Also, this will leave no chance for others who have a different perspective on how to run a country.

You may think that we are focusing only on negatives. So let me tell you, politics is all based on considering negative facts. If you have a plan ready for bad times, you can surely do good in good times.
