it depends on where you live .

if you love near poles , there is a time where there are continuous day all night ( about a month , I don't know exactly :p)

but usually , days and nights occurs we a side of earth is facing towards sun and the outer is not and the earth is continuously rotating on its own Axis .

this is why we have alternate day and night .

hope this will help you

Explanation:

it depends all upon the rotation of the earth as when it rotates on its axis the half portion of the earth which faces sun experiences the day and the rest which faces the moon experiences night .
