As different contries started developing , they introduced their units of standard measurment and thus they had different units for the same physical quantity because of which S.I. system of measurement was introduced which was then accepted worldwide.

Answer:

Science and technology cover entire range to spectrum from a tiny electron to mighty universe. The researchers in each field need to deal repeatedly with similar quantities.

E.g. A civil engineer will deal with construction of roads in Kms. On the contrary, an astronomer will deal with the distance between celestial bodies in light years. Hence same parameter of distance is expressed in Kms as well as in light years for making calculations simple.
