→ The Plains grows a lot crops because it sits on top of the Ogallala Aquifer a declining fossil aquifer.
→ It's tough place to farm high winds and hail storms seem to get a lot of crops but it pays twice as much as good dry-land farms with better weather where it rains twice as much without irrigation.
