Why do we have reservation policy for scheduled caste people in India

These people were previously backward so to uplift them this reservation policy was implemented for SCs, STs, OBCs etc.

In our constitution constituencies are reserved for weaker sections of the society like scheduled castes because these groups are the victims of discrimination since centuries. So,in order to ensure proper representation of the weaker section in parliament discussion, our constitution has made this reservation policy.This also ensures the equality among diverse people of the country.It also results in better decision making as our Parliament has an elected member from such communiy which makes decisions in favour of poor people.
