why do we have salivary glands on toungue

It is really important. We have them because:
1)help with swallowing food.
2)protect teeth against bacteria
3)Aid in the digestion of food

Extra note: There are salivary glands inside the cheeks and at the floow of the mouth also. s

they have digestive engymes which helps to digest our food properly.........digetion of food starts from here.......this is 1st stage
