We have standard time to overcome the confusion of so many times. For example let's imagine we don't have standard time and a person is travelling by train. The train starts from Station A and lefts and reaches his destination in the next half an hour but after coming out of the train he notices that no time has passed. He would have problems communicating with a friend at Station A and his relative at Station B as both of them would have clocks with different times. That's why to overcome this problem every country has chosen one time as standard that the whole country would follow irrespective of their local times. In other words it's just a convention.
