Because its the basic concept of Sustainable Development. If we develop today and leave no resources then the next generation will not have anything.

Suppose if you use all the coal today for energy and use it today, the next generation will not have anything. They will be in trouble as it will be very difficult for them without coal I absence of alternative resources.
