Why do we have to mine the coal from underground to get

it is because coal is a fossil fuel and is formed due to heat and pressure of the crust layers. coal was once dead and decaying matter but as we say life goes on so did it for them they got covered in layers of sand muck and new species started breading on them. after like a million of years when tests are conducted mines are made and coal is extracted from underground
