in a empty room free vibration of the sound acre many times so we can't able clear sound we listen because many times but in a furnished room we listen a clear sound because of the furnitures and the other material do not allow sound to reflect more as in the empty room or they absorb some amount of sound so the sound cannot be reflected

In empty Room multiple reflection of son occurs resulting in the repitition of sound so thats why we are unable to hear sound in empty room while wood is a good absorber of sound so it absorbs the extra sound and we hear more clearly in furnished room.
