A Constitution is necessary because of the following reasons: It is an important law of the land. It determines the relationship of the citizens with the governments. It lays down principles and guidelines which are required for people belonging to different ethnic and religious groups to live in harmony.

The basic principles and laws of a nation, state or a social group that determines the powers and duties of the government and gurantee certain rights to the people in it.

Need of constitution :-

• Constitution is necessary to protect the rights that citizens of India must enjoy.

• It defines the nature of country's political system.

• It gives us reference for right and wrong, what/whom to follow in doubt. So, basically acts as reference book.

• It allows co ordination between various thoughts in society.

• It determines the relationship between state to people and people to people.

• It gives fundamental rights to people, So that state cannot go against the desire of the people.
