What is a constitution?

A constitution is a set of laws and rules written in a book about how a country should function. The rights of citizens are also mentioned in a constitution.

Are there any functions for a constitution?

Yes! Constitution has many functions. Few are stated below :

  • It limits the power of the government and the political leaders.
  • It divides the power between the federal government.

Coming to the question, why do we need a constitution?

A constitution is not actually needed by the government, it is needed by we, the people. We, the people, need few rules and regulations for the smooth functioning of the country. All these rules and regulations are stated in a constitution. If there is a constitution, everything will be stable. We need a constitution to maintain law and order in the society.

What would happen if there was no constitution present?

There will be lack of rules and regulations in the country. People will act as they wish, according to their will. The government will also act as it's will. Justice will be denied and discrimination will be taking place.

Hence, We need a constitution for the betterment of the country itself.
