A Constitution provides the basic framework for the functioning of a State. It is the source of all Legislative, Executive and Judicial powers. It also provides for the Fundamental Rights of its Citizens and the Legal rights of its other residents. Many a times Constitutions also provides for the procedures applicable to running the Nation and the qualifications set for its National Leadership. Constitutions also stipulates the Powers of its Leadership and Officers. All Laws passed by the Legislature should be subject to and subordinate to its Constitution, hence a Constitution is otherwise known as the Mother of all Laws in a Nation. All Executive actions must find its authority in the Constitution or a Statute based on it. The Judiciary also is limited by the framework of the Constitution.
A Constitution can be a single document or a set of documents. It can be written or unwritten. However, it is very important fir a State to have its Constitution as its absence will lead to chaos and anarchy.
One of the most important functions of a modern Democratic Constitution is to put proper checks and balances on Governmental Powers and ensure that the Government of the day doesn't interfere with the normal life of a Citizen; unless one commit or prepare to commit an illegal act. It also ensures that the Government doesn't act arbitrarily on key matters concerning the Citizens.

Answer:

A constitution is a legal framework of rules and regulations which need to be followed by every citizen of the county that we as citizens aspire to live in.

In South Africa, after many protests, strikes and marches the nation was free of the apartheid (a racial discrimination unique to South Africa) government. After these change of events, the black leaders asked the blacks to forgive the whites for the atrocities they had committed. The party that ruled through oppression and brutal killings and the party which led the freedom struggle sat down together and formed a new constitution.

Both parties decided to make compromises, the White minority agreed to follow majority rule and also agreed to one vote, one value. The blacks agreed that majority rule wouldn't be absolute and no black would take the property of the White Minority.

After two years of long discussions,South Africa came up with one of the best constitutions in the world.South Africa,as was said by Nelson Mandela, became a country which respected all people irrespective or colour, caste, creed or gender
