As the sound waves are nothing but vibrations, the sound spread vibrations by disturbing neighbouring atoms(which means there should be medium) and travels.
If there is no medium, there will be no atoms. So the sound cannot travel.

because sound travels in the form of longitudinal waves and are called machenical waves . which needs medium to travel. also sound cannot travell in vaccum because of no medium present
