Answer:

It is called as IST. (i) India is a large country, almost 30 degrees are passing from westernmost state to easternmost state Arunachal Pradesh. ... (iii) To avoid confusion or chaos for having different timings in different states of India, one standard meridian is taken to have a uniform time for the entire country.Aug 3, 2018

Question:

Why do we need a Standard Mendes for India ? Explain

Answer:

India has a vast longitudinal extent. Since many meridians pass through it, it is important to adopt the local time of one central meridian of a country as the standard time for the country. Thus, we need a standard meridian for the country. In India 82 ½ °E longitude determines the standard time.

Question:

What is meant by the Indian Standa Time 7 What is its importance?

Answer:

India has the IST as it's standard time because if it wouldn't have been there, the country would have difference of 2 hours (as India is a large country and has a large East-west extent --- there's a difference of 2 hours from Gujarat in the west to Assam in the east). Hence, IST is an important meridian of longitude.

Question:

What is Standard Meridian of India

It has been se selected ?

Answer:

Indian standard time (IST) is that which is accepted all over India. We have accepted 82°30' E longitude as the standard meridian of indi. It was accepted as it lies almost in the middle. I) It has prevented a lot of confusion and has brought Harmony in time throughout the country.
