why do we need a standard merdian for india ? explain

A standard meridian is so important for India, because there is a time lag of 2 hours between Gujarat and arunachal Pradesh. so we need a standard meridian for the whole country. In India the Standard meridian is at Mirzapur Uttar Pradesh i.e 82.3degree North
