We need a standard meridian not only for India but for each and every country. The time of the standard meridian is regarded as the time of the entire country. If there is no standard meridian, every state in India will have different timings and the travelers will get confused about the timing. That is why we need a standard meridian for India.

We need a standard meridian for India because
The standard meridian of India passing through Mirzapur is taken as the standard time for the whole country . So the watches show the same time even though there is about 2 hours time gap between Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh....
