A meridian used for determining time is called standard meridian. Our SM passes through Mirzapur- U.P.

The standard time for each country is usually taken as the time of the central meridian that passes through it.

It is located at 82°30'E passing
through Mirzapur of Uttar Pradesh.

The Indian standard Time (IST)will be calculated from thismeridian only.
