Why do we need a standered meridian for India? What is its importance

standard meridian is a standard time that is selected for all over india .it is decided among all the countries.It it will not be there then every state and city have its own local time so it is not beneficial and there will be problem among people redarding time.

THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENCE OF ABOUT 1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTE IN THE LOCAL TIME OF DWARKA IN GUJRAT (IN THE WEST COAST) AND DIBRUGARH IN ASSAM (IN THE EASTERN MARGIN). THEREFORE, THE INDIAN GOVT HAS ACCEPTED THE CENTRAL MERIDIAN OF 82 HALF DEGREE EAST PASSING THROUGH MIRZAPUR, ALLAHABAD, AS THE INDIAN STANDARD MERIDIAN.
