We need a constitution for the following purposes : It highlights the commonly agreed upon ideals which a country should uphold. It defines the nature of a country's political system. It provides certain significant guidelines that help in decision making within a democratic setup. It lays down rules and provides safeguards against misuse of power and abuse of authority. It guarantees certain rights based on equality to establish social, political and economic justice. It ensures that minority groups are not deprived of the benefits of the majority group. It also ensures that the majority group does not dominate the minorities. It guards our national interests. It does not allow any dictatorial based decisions which may change the very basic structure of the constitution. It plays a crucial role in democratic societies towards the achievement of desired goals.
