India as we know is the largest democracy in the world. But sometimes a thought comes into mind that even if we were always ruled by monarchs from ancient time then why did the founding fathers chores india to be a democracy. The motion can be supported by a variety of valid reasons:
- India is one of the most diverse country in the world. So only a democracy could have provided the needed nationalism to unify this vast country.
- India from the past have always been invaded by other empires and nations. If democracy would have failed then it would have been a collection of warring states.
- We should understand that there were many sections in society which were suppressed. If there would have been any other form of government. Maybe they won't get their rights.
- After 200 years of colonial rule it's people irrespective of there cultural background understood that there is a need of a nation. Where the voice of each one could be heard and a unified India can provide them protection against invaders.
- Today India is not merely a country but it is a nation which represents about 1/5 of the total population of the world. It is the voice of 1.3 billion people. Almost every religion can find a place in India, with about more than 1700 languages and dialects. Only a democracy could be a voice for so many people with such vast diversity.
