We need an elected representative to run the govt. so that we can avoid chaos and confusion and the govt. can function smoothly while adhering to the people's wants and needs. It would become really tough for the govt. to function smoothly if all the people in the country would start to run the govt. therefore, we vote for our representative and the one which favors the majority of the people's mindset, wants and needs runs the govt, resulting in its smooth and efficient functioning
