1. Election is a procedure through which the people express their will and elect the representative of ther choice.
2. Election is a tested device to bring about change in leadership.
3. Through Elections, an effective control on the policies and decisions of the government is maintained.
4. Through Elections, the legitimacy of the regime is established and also help to maintain it is obtained.
5. Through Elections alone, the decision making process of the government is influenced.
6. Elections also provide an opportunity to denounce the weaknesses of the regime.
