Answer: Elections are needed because now in the world maximum countries are democratic and as countries are democratic, in democracy the ruler [prime-minister] of a country or state is decided by the people of the country or state respectively. So, to make the decisions easier and less time taking and making the majority to win elections are held. In democratic countries it is most helpful.

Elections are most important tool of Indirect democracy through which people elect there representatives .
It is through elections people exercise their choice.
It allows for a government based on the consent of the people.
Elections allow peaceful transition from one form of government by another by means of elections. If people are not satisfied with present government,it policies its way of functioning they can always elect another party to form government.
