The Earth is divided into degrees of longitude and latitude which helps us measure location and time using a single standard. When used together, longitude and latitude define a specific location through geographical coordinates.

They are imaginary lines so that we can navigate around this planet of ours. They are all imaginary lines with which we can plot an exact position anywhere on the earth. So in the physical world if all lines of Longitude and Latitude were to disappear in the blink of an eye it might not immediately effect you.
