We need political parties because:
- They contest elections and form govt.
- They play decisive role in the making of laws. The opposition party questions all the policies of the ruling party.
- If every candidate in the election will be independent, no-one will be able to make promises to the people about major policy changes.
- In absence of parties, govt. may be formed but it's utility will remain ever uncertain.
- I. absence of political parties, elected representatives will be accountable to their constituency. No one will be responsible for how the country will be run.

Answer:
Without political parties, electors would have to evaluate every individual candidate in every single election they are eligible to vote in. Instead, parties enable electors to make judgments about a few groups instead of a much larger number of individuals.
