why do we need political parties in democracy?

A political party is combination of leaders that have similar views on various subjects. These parties are either national or regional. These parties can provide a direction for the future and once get majority in election, fulfilling the promises is much easy. However, individuals even if win can’t have similar views on a subject. Therefore for arriving at majority decisions, it may take long time.
