Why do we need political theory?

If we are democracy we need political parties. The political parties are our representatives. In a large country like India we the common man can not assemble at one place and make policies, it would be too much chaotic. We are also not experts in all fields. So here comes the need of political parties to represent our demands ,fulfil our expectations and make policies for common good.
