Why do we need rights in a democracy

sneha9511: A mechanism by which people can choose their representatives at regular intervals and change them if they wish to do so. This mechanism is called Election. Elections are considered essential in times for any representative democracy. In an election the voters make many choices: 1. They can choose who will make laws for them. 2. They can choose who will form government and take major decisions. 3. They can choose party whose policies will guide government and law making.

Rights are very essential part for the administration of a democratic country. Without rights, democracy will become meaningless and ineffective. For democratic elections, it is necessary that citizens should have the right to express their opinions, through voting systems[Universal Adult Franchise], form political parties and take part in political activities.
We need rights such as fundamental ones through our Constitution to save ourselves from foolish acts like domination , discrimination , untouchability , misuse of power by elected representatives and many more reasons...
