Well if we don't take care of our environment, the level of toxicity in our resources will increase. Oxygen will be decreased and harmful gasses will increase rendering the air unbreathable. Greenhouse gasses will increase the temperature melting ice caps. Water resources will become poisonous affecting the aquatic life and land animals that use the water.
The roots of trees help to hold our soil in place and keep them fertile. If trees our cut, the soil becomes loose and will lead to soil erosion. Similarly they also help store water and regulate flowing of water. Without trees, floods will be frequent.
We are also dependent on other species of animals either directly or indirectly. Extinction of one specie leads to disturbance in food webs. One animal affects the other and slowly the whole food web vanishes.
In short words, if we don't care for our environment.. we will die.
